Forever Lost

Dark skies befall a lonely heart
contented hopes are shattered,
left to flow away silently
down the concrete gutters of a broken life.

Somber cries of loneliness
are heard drifting upon the wind,
as tears of mournful sorrow
cascade cheeks in a river of disconnected dreams.

Sinking slowly in the shadows,
despair overcoming a gentle soul
grasping and choking it of vital breath
The essence of all that once was draining away,

Forever lost.
