A Poet Ponders Death

My mind is wide awake, my body tired.
So many thoughts and questions flood my mind;
My energy leaves much to be desired!
If I but had the lucky stars to find
A way I could delay mortality
And thereby gain the time that I would need
To drain the last of creativity -
To write the books the world will never read.
Ah! What's the point? If no one here will care
Why bother even writing what I do?
I don't believe that I can take it there
And yet, if not, what will the writers do?
How heavenly could even Heaven be
If poets can not write their poetry?

Please tell me what you think

    I enjoyed your poem.

Whatever heaven is will be so much brighter and better than this valley of tears. God created people with many talents, people who passionately need to create. So we will have some outlet to share these gifts with one another and our Father in heaven, I believe.

I believe heaven will provide all we hunger for.

  • Poets are their poetry

It all comes with you, in heart.
  • Depressing, but heartfelt write---I particularly like the last two lines!
    Well Done!!!

  • oh dear, by my faith i do believe they keep a writin' and inspirin' those left on earth to set the pen to paper...i completely empathize with the restless thoughts that will not let sleep in, the poems demanding to be written and i do so very well like the way you put it all to verse. nicely done miss!

Thanks. Of course Heaven will be better than earth, so I'm sure there is poetry and also that it comes all the more easily.
