The Voice at the Wall
A minion comes to worship me
To send their prayers expectantly
They follow all the Jewish laws
And bow their heads in eulogy
The wall provides a reverent pause
As they reflect on scripture clause
They know the wall will soon explode
From ice in cracks that never thaws
When letters in the cracks are sowed
They spark the Faithful’s heavy load
The rabbis pray and children point
Still, stone is stone and walls erode
Yet still the men I will anoint
And I shall never disappoint
Nor decimate the human will
Nor bend their bones beyond the joint
I aerate the blood they spill
When conflict causes them to kill
A burst of faith will actuate
And ease the struggle they instill
The wall will not eradicate
Nor trips to it shall trigger peace
The wall will not eliminate
Nor block the entrance to my gate
