Guiding Light

He came in to my life one cold lonely night,
Saw him walking along the beach in the sunsetting light,
He looked so happy, Something I never really felt,
I wondered about him to myself.

Where was he going?, Where had he been?,
Was he really happy or was it just a scene?,
Did he Love or did he lie and did he ever want to curl up and die?,
Did he ever wonder what was the point to life?.

How was I to know, on that lonely night,
That boy I had seen would soon change my life,
Coming right in under my skin,
Giving me a reason to live again.

Staring at me with bright blue eyes,
He sat next to me and asked why I cried,
I told him I was sad and alone,
Next thing I knew he'd given me a home,

Together we went through the good and the bad,
He was the best friend I ever had,
Showed me everything he had seen,
Just to show me hope and give me back dreams.

Showed me that some people really do care,
That some people will always be there,
Expecting nothing in return,
Just showing the love and helping you learn.

He changed my life in so many ways,
Helped me through so many days,
Wiped away so many tears,
Took my hand through so many fears.

That night when he died I held his hand,
With his last breath he helped me understand,
We met for a reason so clear to him,
I needed a hand up,He needed a friend.

He helped me learn, I helped him heal,
We had each other,Our love was real,
Even as he left my life that night,
He said he'd always be with me and I'd always be fine.

I miss him so much every single day,
His memory is in my heart and there it will stay,
Another like him will never come my way,
My Guiding Light from Manly Bay.

    this is inspirational &sad

this poem is inspirational, and emotional. It is comforting to know that their is such a thing as earth angels, the people sent to you from God that come into your life and bring such profound deliverence of the bad in time of need, It must have been so wonderfull to have such a friend come into ur life and help u through hard times. I wonder at times if such a thing really exsist...and with this poem u have written I can see that it does! I like to call these kinds of people "super hero's", this poem is inspirational, but very sad in the end...it enforces the old saying"everything happends for a reason" and on a sadder not the saying "life suxs" I am sorry about the loss of ur friend, the title fit this write to a tee, this poem was well said.

Thank You for the comment , My friend Nate was the world to me , When he died I had a lot of hard years getting over that. So as sad as it is, it also marks the point I moved forward.
