Fear

Hearts racing
Feet pacing
Eyes dialate
thoughts coordinate
Surely this is the biggest thrill
For on your back, you feel a chill
Not knowing what's coming at you
Or if it's even fake or true
The very same emotion
That puts you feet in motion
May one day save your life
Your husband or your wife,
It can happen to anyone
Your daughter or your son
No matter what the fear may be
In a second, can send you up a tree
The adrenaline
Can make you commit the biggest sin
Never knowing who you can trust
though in some situations, you simply must
Not knowing what path to choose
Though, in a second, sparks a fuse
You suddenly become extremly smart
Will you even have a mark?
That something you once fled
maybe it's all in your head
This may be be the supidest thought of all
for in that second, you may fall
You may truly be in danger
As you stare down the face of this stranger
You may have to put up a fight
If so you fight with all your might
This may be good or could make it worse
You do what pops into your head first
When all is finally said and done
You may still feel the need to run
Now you know this very real emotion
Will it set your feet in motion?
