There's a cold hand of darkness here
The streetligts all around me
Flicker in my tears
My jacket must have blown away
A raindrop hits my cheek
The darkness drapes around me
like a cloak I never seeked.
The rain has soaked me through and through
The streetlights have expired
There is no light left here for me
And how my heart grows tired
I see the dreary street once more
Then it begins to fade
And peaceful darkness kiss my cheeks
As my soul tiptoes away
The streetligts all around me
Flicker in my tears
My jacket must have blown away
A raindrop hits my cheek
The darkness drapes around me
like a cloak I never seeked.
The rain has soaked me through and through
The streetlights have expired
There is no light left here for me
And how my heart grows tired
I see the dreary street once more
Then it begins to fade
And peaceful darkness kiss my cheeks
As my soul tiptoes away
Author notes
These are supposed to be lyrics, though it would be the shortest song ever written. I actually like this poem (which is amazing). It falls in the category of the ones I hardly remember writing (except the last two lines - I just wrote those).

Cheerful... I always knew you were a zombie, but I never knew you had actually had your "soul tipoe away" as you put it. I love that phrase. Beautiful.

This is amazing!!!! The emotion in this is really strong and I love it. When I read this, I'm pretty sure the temperature in the room dropped to the point where I was shivering. I really like the part "I see the dreary street once more/Then it begins to fade/And peaceful darkness kiss my cheeks/As my soul tiptoes away" It's really beautiful and strong. I think this is one of my new favorite poems. Great job.
