July's Most Intelligent Design

There are so many others, past, present, surely future
Whom I could condemn thus:
"He was merely a man, barely a man!
Distracting enough to exact illusory revenge on one whom could not be,
But clumsy...and simple-minded to settle for imperfect, worldy me."

But you!
You did not settle.
You sought, and found, and just my luck!
We were equals from the beginning...
A seemingly irrational, but logically fated chance beginning:
July's most intelligent design.

You!
The male equivalent of all I should have been,
This specimen of my realized lust,
Built like you were made
To fit so perfectly inside
As we entertained our mutual fantasies

You!
Created as though you were made for
Opening doors I never knew were locked
Striking chords to which my ears have never deigned to listen
Striking nerves I never knew I had
So that my blood will flow as it never has before, and
Adrenaline dominates its former course
Within my eager veins

It cannot have merely fallen into place, because you know everything's place
It is second-nature not to place squares into circles
Your eyes have seen plenty and your hands know too much
And I, likewise, have learned enough to shoulder no regretful burdens.

If your lips never again meet mine as brilliantly as they did,
I'll remind myself what else your lips could do...
For they told me, knowingly,
"Tonight was for you."

Author notes

Summer days drifted away, but oh, oh those summer nights
Oh well, oh well, oh well, oh--UH!
Tell me more, tell me more--did you get very far. (Yes.)
Tell me more, tell me more--like, does he have a car? (Yes.)

I'm a dork. :-P

This is very sensual and yet refined. You speak of your lover with tenderness and create an interesting poem that is nearly a short story.I thought this had all the right ingredients and was written very thoughtfully. Well done.
