I never conceived I would experience such a thing
But somehow I did
And thanks to my guardian angel
I was saved from death . . . literally.
Where my father lives is bear country.
There are tons of bears, wolves and coyotes
Out in the open this time of year
And he's warned me about walking around.
Recently I was walking home from his house
When I saw a black spot disappear off the side
of the road.
At first I thought it was a raccoon or a black cat
But to my horror it was nothing of the kind.
IT WAS A BLACK BEAR CUB!
It climbed up a tree
And I knew I had to get away.
My father has told me
It's unsafe to run or even walk away fast
But I was in such a panic
I couldn't think straight and walked away fast.
By some great miracle,
The mother bear did not follow me
And I made it safely back to the house.
My guardian angel was there to protect me
Next time I face this situation
I have to yell very loudly
And act like a bear myself
Which my father has told me
Scares bears off
YEAH RIGHT!
Easy for him to say!
He may have experienced it
But I haven't.
Though this experience made me petrified,
I don't intend to let it stop me
From getting my daily exercise.
As far as being scared of black bears,
I don't know.
In order to scare them off
I guess I'll have to fake it.

Sorry if this doesn't flow or make sense in some spots but it was so overwhelming I couldn't figure the right order to tell this. All I can say is it's totally true. I was almost killed by a bear.
