Walking with pride hidden behind downcast glances
you tug at my heartstrings every time I glimpse
your heart through your eyes:
hurt that you endure breaks my soul,
treading with a heavy foot on shattered pieces,
self dissection you seem to prefer
through eyes shaded by blackened view:
you are perfection (not only through my sighs).
I love you
Working through your troubles (as I used to do)
now takes on a new meaning,
while responsibility debates with love for precedence.
I need you
Breath would escape me if you were not part of me;
adventures started without my knowledge
now lead down exciting roads ...
my footprints walking behind
as you race through life.
My spirit will always soar
while smiles crease your heart,
as avenging angel rears
when injuries mar your outlook.
Your strength through trepidations
fortifies my will
to stand by you
(no matter age or physique) -
my heart beats for the two of us.
You are my everything

My son will be turning 15 next month and teenage years are always difficult - I just hope that what I do for him and my constant support makes a difference in his life

Excellent write, it's beautiful yet sad, being a teenager is a tough time and no one wants to see their child struggle. I really enjoyed this, thanx for sharing.

Beautiful write, Chantell. You express the love for your son well in this piece. I like the line of perfection the best. I think that's how many people feel about their loved ones in life. People are perfect to their family no matter what they do in life, kind of an acceptance. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

Awww. I am sure you do fine.
Though they are often confused, always deep down they can feel the truth of love. I believe that anyway.
