Yemassee

A MAINER NAMED YEM

We celebrate the fame
of a Mainer named Yem
who stands out in the crowd,
distinguished as not one of them.

Well-read of fine authors,
with a passion for history,
he writes romantic poetry,
prose with horror and mystery.

Both rough and polished,
a keeper is Yem,
a friend, a true gem.

Join us in celebrating a Moxie Day with Yem...

along with these two honored guests,
Sir Ima Cucumber and Keystone Theater.

Bring presents...fine words, popcorn, cupcakes and brownies and MOXIE!

and party favors for Yem, Ima, and Keystone...

and more MOXIE...

And even more MOXIE...

But be careful how much is served to Sir Ima,
for Moxie gives him an incredible glow!

AND NOW, YEM, TO PRESENT SOME PRE-RECORDED MESSAGES FROM YOUR FRIENDS...

from Mariza...

It doesn’t matter how many moons you have seen
Or suns rising and setting in the infinite of the horizons
Your gentleness doesn’t age or fade with the years
your heart beats with youthful joy, and always will
For your birthday I want to thank you for be who you are
An amazing friend who have held my hand through tempests
And smiled my smile when happiness was all around
Happy birthday Mayne!!!

Hugh Wyles:
"Perchance one meets, along life’s streets, a man of foremost wit

who can aspire (which we admire) to master Mari’s “IT”

but purple cows and Vigo’s sows, even Coelho don’t seem odd

if, daily, you drink MOXIE and see YEMASSEE as god!

To those I see here on AP, please join with me to say:

“Dear Yemassee, now you’re FIFTY, have a hip, hap, HAPPY DAY!!”

Melodies:
"The birthday stork is swooping by;
a gift of twins... can hardly fly...
He thinks that you are mighty nifty,
is calling out, "A HAPPY FIFTY!"

pattyann4500

"They say it's your birthday,
you're fifty, at that!
But just remember,
I reached it first.
Happy Birthday, Yem, my big brother, and many more. Love, Patricia"

Maureen:
"Your body may be changin'
but your mind's not changed a bit!

Please stay just the way you are..
a funny, silly twit!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, YEM!"

J aime Coudre:
"I hear you are turning 50 this year and might be feeling a bit anxious about it..well,, let me tell you it only gets better...But if it will make you feel any better let me put it in a different prospective...You have been around for half a century!...Now, don't you feel better already...

So have a great birthday...drink lots of Moxie...take life by the horns and have an unbelievable ride of your life...then go out and write more fun poetry...Yours is the best...Hugs and best wishes...Darlene

A WRY BIRTHDAY MESSAGE FROM waydownuponjoy

A Birthday …

I know, Dear Sir, at birthday time,
That you might wake alarmed to find -
While arms and legs remain quite strong,
Your cucumber’s - no longer long!
Please don’t rely on super glue,
I’m sure you’ve heard there’s hope for you,
While fifty seems a bit extreme,
A pill or two can save esteem.
So smile awhile - enjoy the gift,
That Pfizer made for mid-life lift!

Happy 5 OH ... to you! joy

From Catz

Happy Birthday to you.  And make it a good one,
Yem... we reach that half century
mark but once in a lifetime
P.S. Your birthday socks are on their way
Lotsa love, swats and a hug.

From I-Like-Rhymes:

I'd like to join the happy throng
saying "50 years and still going strong,"
To a birthday boy who is a sparkling gem
So let's all raise a glass to good old Yem

From fathom me:

Wish you the best of all the enjoyable, lovely things in life
Happy Birthday! and your new year!
More Moxie, More Love, More Warmth, More Fun
& More of good caring friends like Mari.

Wow, I have to do something with this one! Interesting. Was this a logo for something other than the real Moxie? It is always interesting how some companies steal (or are given the right) to use not only the name but the style of the font.

It's cute. Will see where the Moxie maidens fit on Yem's page

Well, it is fun indeed, to create images
that someone else can enjoy and put to use,
which Yem does, scoops them up, and, voila--
      on his page.

But as I worked with each of them to create the other's
suprise, neither admitted it me that each was also having a bday. Such subterfuge I had to play.

But better to have a use for art
than to let it sit idle!!!

      You entered #108!

Somewhere, somehow I had to introduce a character
who could fund all the fuss. Following rockabye's
lead on Hall Sparks, it was a magical adventure,
      with Kutcher-Garner-even Busey thrown in--Garner's
twin, Sokoloff---leading to the Practice and thus
      to Boston Legal--HAH!

There it was! An outrageous character! And the
explanation to Sir Ima's magic card which he
keeps in his almost imvisible pocket---
      the benefactor, Shattner.

It was "The Negotiator" current title that
      was the clincher.

And now rockabye left him in uniform---for me.

Coelho confused. What be this Moxie that Yamuchee seems the drinker of? Is the Yamuchee a drunker man? Coelho likes his drinks at noon but always Coelho know when to say no. Poor Yamuchee he need the AA Coelho think, no?

Coelho happy to meet you. Yamuchee say, "Coelho, you may be free for two the weeks, just stays the downwind of the MardiGoes, for you know Coelho that MardiGoes hate the sight of you." So Coelho lay the low.

Coelho come and the go these last years...when MardiGoes get the green under the eyes, it time for Coelho to take wife Bonniee and get back to Tonga where Coehlo and the Bonniee hide from the IT. But coast the clear Coelho think, yes?

Great to know such artistic and creative people!

I see a good time was had by all..cupcakes and Moxie and all..I know I would have had a ball..if I hadn't slept through it all.

    Darnit!

Great artwork and graphics! Enjoyed seeing Yem and honored guests Sir Ima and Keystone Theater! The cupcakes look good enough to eat and one of these days I will find out what Moxie tastes like! (I know I must be missing out on something really special!)

Thank you for inviting me to Yem's birthday party! I wouldn't have missed it for the world (if I had been awake, that is).

I enjoyed Sir Ima's poem with perfect meter due to timely stuttering!

I'll now take my leave..I've got nothing up my sleeve..though I feel the urge to heave (must have been all those yummy cupcakes).

I'll say it once more as I walk out the door..

    H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y Y E M ! ! !

    Birthday s & es,
    <3 Maureen

That is ok, I sleep through my birthday every year! One good thing about me, you never miss out on snacks, I always keep a ready supply! And I have a three day grace period for birthday wishes, so anyone who greets me three days before or after my birthday is still in good standing!

      Thanks!

It's claimed, within the State of Maine,
that MOXIE is what keeps them sane
for daily draughts will help to gain
more stropsicles to feed the brain....

I've forgotten what I meant to say
    and it's my bedtime anyway.
I'm sorry that I cannot stay
but I hope Yem's had a happy day.

OK OK I know I said that for Mariza's poem but I need my MOXIE nightcap. It's after 11pm and Edna is yelling for me to come to bed.

Applause, love and hugs. Ni ni. Hugh.

It's nice to see that so many people are prepared to write for that youngster Yem. Having passed the same milestone a few years ago http://allpoetry.com/poem/1955012 I can assure him that the second half century can be a whole lot more fun.
Cheers to Yem and well done to his friends for organising this little

      Hmmmm...a cathedral...
      "Seeing Yemassee as God"--
      did I get that right?

      Yemassee Cathedral.

Would Yem like the sound of that?

      Nice to see you, Marion,

our body as a sacred temple ...

or cathedral, synagogue, mosquee, shrine, forest ...

        whatever ...

filled with the light of consciousness,

nourished by the nectar of love ...

        how does that sound ?

And there are even a few more different variations
tucked in the story at the Bettyboard. TTG found
        the carpenter's driver's license-----and discovered
        it was Yem's bday!!!!!

But it's a day to be lazy, it's your birthday!!!

And may it be a most happy one!

I wrote this silly thing but not sure it is bettyboard worthy:

          Ah it's the venerable
          TTG
          who pulls my leg
          and go-goatee

          Your tongue sticks out
          so thir-thirsty
          but stay away
          from my Mo-Moxie!

          Rockabye,
          have you no leash?
          he poops in my garden
          it smells...kah-kah capisce?

          And I hope your birthday
          had plenty of zing
          among lots of your friends
(them ti tin can eatin' things!)

          But enough of old news
          Let me introduce to you
          a friend of Sir Ima's
          Emmett The E-E Emu!

          He's cute and he's cuddly
          (though he likes to spit)
          but he's not very smart
for he eats his own sh sh s---

And what's with this stu stu stutter?
          I seem to possess
          just really bad meter,
          I do do confess.

Yem, you are too, too clever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just what TTG and rockabye will eat up.

Will add to the story I have in progress right now, still under construction!

            As memorable as K-K-K Katy!
I can add your emu later.

Happy Birthday Yem! Though I know little of Maine and Moxie, I do know that you have always left deeply insightful, and very inspiring comments on all of my pieces. Therefore, there must be something great about both to have produced a poet such as yourself. May you have a great day!

Hey, Carma! Yem would surely offer you a Moxie
since he must have a big supply on hand now.

Interesting info he passed on: the word "moxie"
used now with the connotation of vim and vigor,
did not exist before the name was given to the
soft drink. The word use came form "Moxie"
the gentian root formula from a past century!!!

Amazing, the things one learns from other
      posters online!!!

The graphics are amazing!!! Loved the rhymed verses too. You my friend have the gift to give precious gifts to your friends!
Mayne deserves that and so much more, for his birthday and for all the days of his life.
Excellent work of art and heart you have here!

      And Yem thought that you
      wouldn't pass on the "secret"
that he had a birthday coming up!!

It was fun to create new graphics
for someone else to put into play.
And both you and Yem have the knack
      of creating most interesting pages!

Glad you liked the result, Mariza!

Mariza is the best partner in rhyme
for she had all the background info
to pass on to me. I do belive that the
Mainer (who writes such great comments
      as well as extraordinary poetry
      and fiction) was surprised!
