I fell asleep on your couch
and heard bells ringing
from the Methodist Church
across the street.
"Wake up!" you announced
sudenly, "It's time to eat."
The scent of roast chicken
drifted lazily into the room.
That night, distant trains
passed freqently. You seemed
to be on one--a traveller,
escaping from me.
The church glowed under the moon;
I peered through the window
up at the stars
peppering the sky. Later,
your soft snore seemed to tell
a story of needed solitude,
to whisper quietly in my ear,
"I no longer need you."

This is seriously beautiful.
A jab at that heart.
Goooodness.

I really like this. I read it a second time, because i wasn't sure the "you" was a person. Then it made sense. Nice ending. Intuition expressed peacfully and reality expressed truthfully.
