Innocence

When everything is new
Everything is beautiful
Green green grass and lilac blossoms
Beautiful, she caresses them
They stretches emerald fingertips
toward the sweet new light
All is fresh and innocent.

The flower buds oen and pour out brilliant color
Filling the wld with life and energy
Spilling out innocence
They dance in simple breezes, tickleingher toes
The sun shimrs down with splendor unmatched
She spreads out in its comfort
Energy and no conditions, simplicity and blindness.

But as the sun sets, wrapping up her joy,
the gold of perfect fades to gray
for nothing innocent can last
'Nothing gold can stay'.

Author notes

I personally don't really like this one, so kudos to you for actually reading the whole thing. I just added the last stanza, and as you can see, I've been doing a bit too much reading lately. The last line is from a Robert Frost poem, which I got from The Outsiders.

this is really good, and don't you dare try to contradict me. i like the last stanza, it does a good job of wrapping up the poem and provides an interesting contrast. i like the switch to an "ABAB" rhyme scheme from the free verse. I also like how you turn a poem about beauty into something that's a bit more profound. they say ignorance is bliss, but knowing the truth makes what is perfect all the more beautiful great poem!!
