Would I want to be detached in what I do?
That's a very good question.
I thought immediately
Of the cats I care for
And how wonderful they make me feel,
A feeling of serenity.
I love them.
They are so pure,
Better than we are.
That's what I think.
Last week, one of them bit me,
Not in anger. It didn't seem like anger.
It was just out of the blue.
I can't begin to know his motives.
But I'm not angry and I still love him.
Sometimes I think I should detach
From these fine animals,
Not love them so much.
But then I would not do
My job so well.
Owners always say their cats
Are so relaxed when they return.
Detachment is an admirable thing.
But it sounds boring.
I want to be passionate in my life,
In cat sitting and in everything.
Author notes
Afterthought: Perhaps the ability to forgive this animal who had injured me is a form of detachment. However, I will be cautious with him now. That is a form of common sense.
You be the judge.
Sorry, I completely forgot to count the lines.
