Soft-scented Frames

Missing image

As eyes meet eyes locked fast with care
and touches push beyond retreat
all logic loses incomplete
in breathless breath of evening air.

And ghost moon shimmers
cooling summer heat,
matching soft touch of
mourning dove
whose silkened wings
coo truth as evening dawns.

Hands held with love shall not compete
with other; each instead, will pair
a blending in such love affair;
affections placed in bond replete.

Smooth skin hovers satin skin,
touching shared caress.
Fearless feelings blend
with subtle craving
as docile, dusted roses sift
within soft-scented frames.

la crainte s'affaiblit dans une main douce quand
la passion se renverse avec la tendresse.

English:

fear wanes within a gentle hand
when passion spills with tenderness

Thank you. That coming from the creator of the form is a treat. The contest called for it. I knew it as soon as I saw it and had to use it. Thank you so much for introducing it to me. It is a beautiful form. ~Pamela

Beautifully done, and I love the form, it really works well to bring out the imagery in the write. I hear the mourning dove song every day in my back yard and love it. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

I was going to try this form, many moons ago I copied it to notepad... Now it is lost among the Docs. [like everything else it seems!!!] But your velvety version is really gorgeous, and oh so inspiring...

Thank you so much. I loved this form when Laura first invited me to try one and she pushed me hard to mold me out of my strict meter in the free verse portion to give this form the umph that the free verse portion deserves. I found it to be perfect for this contest. Thank you again. I do hope you will try one of these too and let me know when. I would love to read it. Thanks my friend. ~Pamela

The words are as soft as the birds. childhood memories of mine are the evening and morning sound of these angels of cooing that evoked stillness in my heart each time I heard them. very well done.

When I posted this competition, I never dreamt of the range of entries I would have to choose between. This is a truly beautiful piece, which successfully walks the light tightrope between pure sentiment and bathos. Excellent. How am I going to judge these?
