"Ah, pray make no mistake,
We are not shy;
We're very wide awake,
The moon and I."*
I'll whisper to the moon,
Between her and myself,
We know God was soon
Put on a shelf.
He'll rot there,
Only to never end what was begun.
Away is my care,
My religion is done.
Luna and I,
We know what we do.
Don't ask why,
Don't ask if I'm true.
Balded heads bowed down,
Faces painted with wax
We accept our crown
Of executioner's axe.
"Ah, pray make no mistake,
We are not shy;
We're very wide awake,
The moon and I. "*

fine poem. congratulations.

I really admire the take on this...
defiant and at once, confident in choices made.
I would have loved to see more of your own words
at the beginning and ending as the third and fifth
stanzas stood out to me with focus and impact.
Rhyme and flow are exceptional. Blue
