Motherhood

Sleepless nights and spit up on clothes
Leaky breasts and post birth flows
The screaming, the crying, you, not baby
It's enough to make one crazy

    But

Omniscient looks through crystalline eyes
Little whimpers and contented sighs
Downy softness against your skin
Feelings of love from deep within
Lotion smells and smiles that soothe
The world disappears with each sweet coo
Ahh the joys of motherhood
Nothing else could be so good

    thankyou i have a question how do you calm your husband down? he is so excited and wont sit down, wont let me lift anything, he does a full time job and the housework, and his paternal side makes me nervous lol.

    your poem was fantastic! i love the way you made my heart sink at the reality of the not so uplifting chores that motherhood comes with but you lifted up my heart again at the rewards you so beautifully worded in the second half of your poem, making me more maternal

    Oooh, i really like it how you write about the not so perfect side of motherhood too rather the just focusing on the good bits! A very realistic poem because although motherhood is wonderful - it is *not* easy. But as you also pointed out depite it being so difficult all a moteher has to do is look at her baby and all she feels is love. great write hun.
