The Pittance of Threepence

The sun ate the moon
while darkness was
at it's peak
    shuttered out
sheltered
the faeries only
came out to
play when it was
dark.

they liked the dark
  relished in it.
the frogs they called
friends
embezzled secrets

and sold them to the
  trolls.

  the trolls.
  all for a pittance
of threepence.

    violent they
  huddled under
  ivy spewed across
silver mountains.

delicate thunder
  faery wings
scurried for shelter
  iron, red, iron
the moon let out
a chilling sigh
  and cried

green heads
peeked through
  the lilies
in the pond.

So descriptive and imaginative. I really enjoyed the tale you've given us here. I like the way you've wrapped it up with the frogs peeking through the lilies as if to say they have won.

This poem is written in a very original form. Not a cliche, in the slightest. However, I kind of lost interest in it towards the middle. Great write, all the same. Thanks for entering, good luck!
