Dreams of Seeming ...

Within grand fields of fading space,
sweet sounds reverberate a trace
of life before - As if a dream,
so Then of Now finds grace between.

A slowing flow of cosmic waves,
returns to light those starry graves,
absorbed into mass blackened holes
and universe of drifting souls.

A shadowed sense slips in to speak,
while tones of eight urge on critique.
Sorrow’s joy is silence streaming
existential dreams of seeming ... ...

    Sometimes I read...

other peoples comments first, so i can get a feel of what the poem is about...Lol!! then there are other times when this is not a pre-requisite... like this one! you speak a language that immediately grabs my attention and I relate to, and understand where you're coming from, stop me if I'm wrong, but without hesitation I can post a response which is natural and free..."a slowing flow of cosmic waves
returns to light those starry graves...
    Absorbed into, mass blackened holes
    And universe of drifting souls"

    "Existential dreams of seeing..."
If only you could know what this means to me, then again, you probably do...
    thank you

What better monument to dreams is there than a starry, starry night, classical music and someone special to enjoy it with. Best of luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,

The more I read your poem, the more I can appreciate its imaginative resonance with Pachelbel's lovely piece of music. An excellent poem.

Ah so that is the name of this song! Always reminds me of a wine commercial. I like it. As you can tell, I know as much about classical music as I know about brain surgery.

Memories of days gone by, maybe even days that never were quite as you wanted them to be? Would be good to see again a few people I once knew, who have passed on.

"tones of eight urge on critique?" I like that! I like it all, it's quite good, I mean I like it a lot...I don't want to seem like I think I'm the arbiter of what is good, lol.

    Hello Poet.

This is my favourite classical piece, absolutely love it, some of the chord progression is just unbelievable. Anyway your piece; Once again, I shall be listening to the music repeatedly while reading your poem. I have to say your write certainly has a dreamy ambience to it, and I can see why Cannon makes a person feel like they are dreaming, and of space, certainly it has taken to many a place.

Your first stanza creates a delicate vision of the strings emanating sounds in and out of existence, which is what they do, but yours is a very serene way of putting it. Not only that, the strings aren’t bombastic at first, they have a tremolo like quality, and a slow attack before full amplitude is reached.

Your second stanza is beautiful, makes me picture the beautiful sounds emanating into all directions, coming to return “ to light those “ stars, almost like a benevolent white hole or star gate. The drifting souls is a lovely, makes me picture them all connected to the music in as free spirits.

Certainly the next stanza of existential adds to the interpretation of all free souls in their own dreams, and you have included the eight tones of an octave. Sorrow’s joy, is great, I have also often thought of Cannon having a sense of daulity in it’s expression, for there is much joy, but also sadness. Almost like the joy of remembering someone close to us who is no longer with us in the physical.

Your write is an interesting one, for it’s an amalgamation of acoustics and dreamy metaphor, and perception of Cannon. Another great write, which I get to read while listening to my favourite tunes, I am loving this contest, hahaha.

If I may recommend two of the tunes for you to check out, if you liked Cannon, then you may like them, my apologies if you know of them:
