I'm no superhero:
That's evidently true,
But I'm still on my knees
Because my kryponite centers around you.
My emotions are my connection
To the world and people around me,
But they are also the bane of my existance,
The only ties I have to those who surround me.
Some call it a syndrome.
Some say it is supernatural,
This bond I have with life.
I never wanted this kind of potential.
The ability to feel what others feel
Is a gift when you know no fear
And a curse when coupled with a guilty conscience.
My conscience is far from clear.
I'm no superhero:
That's evidently true,
But I'm still on my knees
Because my kryptonite centers around you.
Author notes
Empathy and compassion...a gift and a curse.

The ability to feel too much. To have to much sympathy
can be your downfall when you love too much. This is hard to read.. we women hurt ourselves this way.. you said it so well.
