In a bygone age our paths did cross
you a lord and I, one of your mistresses.
How was I to know you had a wife
in another town, a lady's hair and dresses.
The other mistress and I were both there,
found about each other
wondering what's going on
and we did not know about the wifely other.
Myself and the other mistress
burned side by side.
Greater than that which burned our flesh
was the fire of our shared treacher, burning inside.
Our paths crossed again, in this lifetime,
you're the same adulterous fool.
I learned of the other woman
now I'll never again be your tool.
you a lord and I, one of your mistresses.
How was I to know you had a wife
in another town, a lady's hair and dresses.
The other mistress and I were both there,
found about each other
wondering what's going on
and we did not know about the wifely other.
Myself and the other mistress
burned side by side.
Greater than that which burned our flesh
was the fire of our shared treacher, burning inside.
Our paths crossed again, in this lifetime,
you're the same adulterous fool.
I learned of the other woman
now I'll never again be your tool.
Author notes
The prompt is: "There was something about him/her that was like biting on tinfoil.".....a paraphrase from Steven King
~leaving a controlling and manipulative exboyfriend who would tell me anything to keep his influence on me. Another 'witch' told me this guy was not a witch/wicca but a warlock. So I have my philter, crouching tiger hidden dragon, moon water and prayer, to keep him from finding where I've moved to.
