I won’t let this heartache rule me, you are no longer my life force.
I did my part to make this work, you’re the one who turned your back
I tried to fix our friendship, to keep our relationship intact
The times we spent together, are so close to my heart
I knew it was you I was destined to love, from the very start
I wanted only to be with you, to blend your life with mine
To show you how much I care, and to always be by your side
The pain of being without you, has at times, been too much to bear
I prayed that God would help me to show you how much I care
I asked Him to give you back, to give me just one more chance
To hold your hand under the stars, to dance with you one last dance
Author notes
I loved you... I only asked that you love me back.... that you fight for me the way I fought for you.. that you didnt turn you back on me like I never meant a thing to you...

Thank you Rhythm Child,
Dancing is something that is so intimate... swaying across the floor... I would have loved one more dance. I would be content with that : )
Thank you for your review,

First off, that was an awesome write. Secondly if I were to go back in time a few years, I went through the same thing. I fortunately had my last dance though. I prayed a lot, and shes happy now, so thats cool. Anyways, good write, I enjoyed reading it.

I have to say that unrequited love often makes for the best poetry. For this to be one of your first posts, I'd say you came here a poet already, and for sure you have probably honed your skills to a bright shine. I know this! This poetry is heartbreakingly lovely.
Thank you for this expert entry. I wish you the best in this challenge.
Much Love Always ♥

The only love we can ever guarantee
is the love we give
Return of love is fabulous when it happens,
but that is determined by their choice
and not by what we wish in the end.
The lesson that giving love doesn't guarantee we
will get is back is one of the hardest we will
ever face, but what must be learned is to never
stop giving love, irregardless of what happens
for the pleasure is in the giving. Reception of
love is a want (aka condition) and real love
is unconditional.
In the end we must rid ourselves of all hate
and anger over relationships that don't work out.
For as long as a heart is filled with them, there
is no room for new love to enter, just as you can't
add more water to a glass that has no room.
Sometimes hon things just aren't meant to be no matter
how much we want them too, but when one door is closed
another is opened and sometimes the new room is ever
more lovely than the last one was...
Hugs...Eddy
