I spent two weeks in Hawaii
Stayed in a hotel right on the beach
Each night as I gazed out to sea
I watched the moonlight
dance upon the water
as it put a show on just for me
As the waves rolled gently in
pushed by a soft warm breeze
I felt the ocean's mist upon my face
When the waves broke upon the beach
I could feel the soft sand squish between my toes
as the water headed back out to disappear without a trace
Every night as the moonlight danced
I walked upon the beach.
truly the most romantic place that you could ever be
Then I realize that once again
I was all alone
with no-one to share this all with me
I looked around and
all I could see where couples
it was like the world was made for two
As they all walked hand in hand
my hand was empty still
and as I watched, I wondered where is my love so true?
Walking side by side or looking out to sea
entangled in a lovers embrace
and each and everyone had a huge smile upon their face
But as I think back the memory
of a couple in their 80's stands out still
as I look back this memory holds a special place.
I watched them and I realized
they had seen the world
through each others eyes
And as his hand reached up, and held her face
as he gently kissed her lips
I truly almost cried.
Could I, would I ever find
such a sweet love like this
someone to stand by my side
Someone to share the glories
of the world with me
I so want to enter that romantic zone
Or am I forever
doomed to solitude
destined to walk this life alone
