Just a Little Further

Just a little further, Maestro,
and you will transcend all
remaining barriers between sound
and ecstasy. Ecstasy? No, divinity!
Allow your soul to shape
each chord, each note, and you will
reach the ears of angels--perhaps
the ears of God Himself.
Such talent is yours, Maestro:
do not be constrained by earthly limits.
Let your fingers walk the music
over the threshold of Heaven--
just a little further
and immortality is assured.

Author notes

I have chosen No.12--Carry this on just a little further.

I've known a couple of people who know music this way. Their talent seems unbounded and totally incredible. Once, too, I went to a women's retreat. They began to sing acapella in the spirit one snowbound winter's day. I still get goose bumps remembering the sweetness of harmony and sound. I've never heard anything like it since. Music of the spheres, indeed!

    No boundaries ...

and you have described the music of the universe ... chord progressions that awake the sleeping soul to appreciate. Nice work here and good luck in this contest. joy

That's very good. I always wondered whether the command meant "keep going, don't be tempted to speed up", since much of Satie's piano music is written without bar lines or even time signatures. But I think your interpretation is equally, and probably more valid. Thanks for a thought-provoking entry.
