The original poem JingYeSi was written by the Chinese poet LiBai thousands of years ago, and remains the most famous Chinese poem today. Here, I have attempted to correctly translate this poem. The problem with the other translations is that they translate the word "chuang" as "bed", while in ancient times this word did not mean bed but a wooden board placed on top of a well to stop people from falling in. In this poem, the speaker is sitting upon one of these boards, above a well.
JingYeSi
Moonlight, gracing the foot of the well,
Seems like frost that on the ground fell.
I raise my head to gaze upon the moon
And lower it, remembering my childhood town.
