I am the song bird high atop the tree,
hear my song of lost love.
Perched upon the branch set high above,
to sing love's melody.
My songs of sadness bellow far and wide,
my sorrow now defined.
Love disappears with sorrow left behind,
and an empty heart inside.
I can no longer feel the sky of blue,
nor the warmth of the sun.
Life's journey for happiness in now done,
sitting here without you.
Hear my sad song sung till you hear no more,
sung just for you tonight.
Time for me to fly and my wings take flight,
into the unknown I soar.
Final song sung for you takes my last breath,
but do not weep for me.
There will be no more tears as pain is set free,
I shall find peace in death.

Thank you For Entering
always keep writing -
This is truly a penned work of knowledge. Prompt- This is Me Breaking Down-The dialog and narratration takes the reader through times when love has failed and happiness is found in taking flight where pain is no more and peace is found outside the life shared in sorrow. This is consistent with the readers emotion being drawn into the read when sadness is survival. Great write and good luck with the contest.

Great Comment My Friend!!
Thank you again Dan.
Love your insight on my words. It was written while thinking back to a very sad time in my life. Years ago my fiance died and I didn't think I could go on. But I did. It taught me to be strong and that strength helped me through my sons death last year. So there is a purpose to everything we experience in life. You tske care. Thank you for dropping by.
Bless You,
Sandy

My, how I can relate to this!
Yes, sometimes I too have desired death as what seemed the ONLY escape to a "hopeless" situation! This thing of "lost love" can be SO OVERWHELMING! And talk about depression! But you and I both know that the REAL
"escape" from our sorrows is JESUS CHRIST! For as He reminds us in John 16:33, "In the world, ye shall have tribulation" while "in ME ye might have peace." Like they say, "No peace without the Prince of Peace", right? And it comforts me to know that saints of God FAR more spiritual than me, like Job, Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah, David, and Paul felt this way, wanting only to die, so sorrowful were they! And of course, Jesus himself was "a man of sorrows, and aquainted with grief." (Isaiah 53)
And God is so merciful, is he not? He is good enough to save us, and then He also puts precious people in our lives: LIKE YOU SANDY! Thank you for the blessing you are to ME! God bless you, dear sister!

Yes no matter how much we suffer, Jesus is here to help us and lift us up. Yes He does bring people into our lives for many reasons. He is an awesome God and has a plan for all of us. Bless you my friend.
