Standing on the dock watching the sun
Falling into a cradle of cobalt
In rivers flow and out rivers run.
Breathing in deeply, observing the sky
Painted with abstract stokes of molten gold
Background of surf and ocean's sigh.
Hoping the sun will stay out for awhile
Keeping me company on an ivory beach
Stalling the grim crescent moon's smile.
The sunset comes with a chariot of fire
Drawn by sparking saffron horses
To bring me up in a sky of sapphire.
In rivers flow and out rivers run
While I dream on the dock, watching the sun.
