I know of a place
where animals posses all the skills that humans have created!
A place where we are non-existent!
Where taxis and city buses are driven by horses,
and giraffes guide slow tortoises through busy crosswalks!
A place where a snail can travel at sixty-five miles an hour on a freeway,
as Ford Explorers carry families of wiener dogs on Sunday outings to the local park!
Eagles pilot sophisticated aircraft,
soaring through the sky at break-neck speeds,
amazing all witnessing their astounding aerial abilities!
I've seen the most extensive and precise subway system ever devised!
Literally able to drop something or someone off on a door step!
It was invented by a geophysicist named Wormus J. Dupree.
He was the first worm ever to have made it to the center of the earth and back alive!
A place where cheetahs drive supercharged, fire breathing, mechanical monsters,
breaking all boundaries, as a thunderous boom rattles ears drums for miles,
and roaring spectators buzz with exhilaration!
I know of a place,
where birds no longer flap their wings to fly!
Author notes
This is a poem that was inspired by a dream that I had when I was a kid. I still remember it vividly today.
Theme: A childrens poem about an animal metropolis.
The title was inspired from a bananna milkshake I was drinking when I wrote this poem at an ice cream parlor.
