On Stepping out of the Shower (Collection)

(i)

On Stepping out of the Shower

it was magnus
that took away the sam brown
bone of the buttons
and the sword
khaki was replaced by khalahari sand

officers did not have time
to amend and to shine
strategically this asks for a poem

how do i understand the mind
of a general?
i need to see his heart
perhaps he had become tired
of the british empire
and wanted to strip its symbols

these thoughts entered my mind
as i stepped out of the shower
millions of miniature stars exploring skin
an army of body-hugging drops
shimmering
in the wet-gold strands of my hair

On harnassing Myself against this World

"I am an agnostic Jew" he said

I was born just once: a Christian

My heritage is in Him
no need for me to reconsider
I am safely in His Palm
sometimes flat on my face
Christ was the Unselfish act of God
to demonstrate to man His Love
Christ was a manifestation
of Holy Understanding
Christ was God manmaking Himself

He humiliated his Heaven Heart
He opened a Vein to the most holy Complexity
by the simplicity of Forgiveness
Christ did not come for this world
How could the Jews recognize Him
as the Son of God -
they waited for a Leader, a King,
to set them free from bondage
Then came this Man
claiming He was the Son of God
yet reacting as the most humble
of humble men

Ridiculous! they thought
The Son of God
is all Stars and Swords
not that barefooted Crying Eyes
And they turned Him over
to be crucified
clinging to the bondage
from within

They did not want a humble king
neither does this world

such were my thoughts
as I harnassed myself against this world
slipping on my sand-coloured shift
and my Jerusalem sandals

On Applying Make-up

it's been a year
since Johannes Kerkorrel committed suicide
after losing all his new songs
on his computer
of course:
that
did not instigate the deed

people hide within their need
"presenting the problem"
so to speak
how beautiful the truth is shaded
openly
within the lie

thought I
as I applied
soft eye-shadow
and the purple lipstick
from my daughter's vanity case

mouthing
the sexy sadness of compassion

Author notes

Transatlanticism ... GRIN you asked, I read.

The uniform of the SA Defence Force was changed previously ... I found this intriguing. I am no political or military minded person. But I love uniforms and discipline. Sometimes I find strategic planning interesting.

I did this collection impromptu ... and was surprised to see my own daily ritual unfolding, to flow from "travelling light" (diminishing the unnecessary fixtures) to dressing up and hiding behind masks ... sometimes society's empty sacredness ... sometimes sad projection.

Was Johannes a client? I wonder if those were his art/therapy songs.

The servant messiah, and the triumphant messiah are both prophesied. Unrealistic expectations... cause so much pain and disappointment. There have been debates I have watched, and discussion of the thoughts of rabbis who acknoledge Jesus as a Jewish king, who was disqualified by dying from being Messiah. If he comes back, then we will know for sure! Smiling as he said it on a TV debate...

Today, I learned that Jesus was descended from Judah and Tamar, his daughter in law, who impersonated a prostitute to commit deliberate incest. Rahab, also a harlot. You speak here of the humanity jesus was clothed in. The bible does not white wash its heroes...

Thoughts on 70AD. The temple, and Jerusalem were destroyed. The geneological records were destroyed, thereby closing auditions for Messiah. No one now can prove descendence from King David. It proved the prophesy of jesus that the temple would be destroyed, credentialing him as a prophet. It lends support to a very early completion date for the books canonized as the new testament. The event is not mentioned. It diffuses the argument that the gospel writers fabricated his godhood at a much later date as memories faded, legends creeped in, and the "god" was invented. If the books came much later with that kind of motivation, they would have pointed out these points on 70 AD.

Zechariah 12:10- Is about the end of days when Israel is surrounded and Messiah comes to rescue-"They shall look upon him whom they have pierced, and morn for him as one mourns for a lost son"

    We live in interesting times

This was not what I expected judging by the title but it was a pleasure to read nonetheless. Your thoughts are deep and captivating. Your 'slice of life' style also adds punch to the piece. And to think when I'm in the shower my only thoughts are how long do I have before I have to be at work...lol. Excellent work my princess and I wish you well in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long
