Pensieve Mood

Sitting by crackling log-fire
Upon an old, faded bed,
Thoughts and memories consume me,
Swirling about in my head.

I start to look into the past
Memories of childhood gone by,
Rosy cheeks, bouncy golden locks,
Childish hopes, no reason to cry.

Then present comes and consumes me,
And thoughts of what's happening now,
Of joys and sorrows and heart-aches,
How onwards I must now just plough.

Soon future I turn to embrace,
Thoughts of what is to come,
Of sunshine and rain and fire,
Knowing I'll never succumb.

Yet soon my thoughts turn to others,
Of those I hold deep in my heart,
And golden joy and beauty fills me,
I know from good I'll not part.

The straight and the pure path I'll take,
Through the dark wood that is our life,
Healing and loving and bringing light,
Saving my heart from its strife.
