Incantations meet sidetracked hearts,
spitting the lyrics they call home.
You turn my wings white and
melt my fingers like candlewax,
dripping down the backs of
sweat-laced bodies.
I want to crawl up your veins
and sleep in the curves of your wrist;
captive by your pulse, blanketed by your blood--
curled between your kiss.
Nobody in this solipsistic mind exists
when we are the only souls breathing
and trembling to the tune of a silent
love.
Your kisses taste like spun sugar
and leave me feeling electric and numb.
The words slip down my legs like
melted mint and leave me with
no poetry left to spit.
Those eyes make dragonflies feel humble
about the fireworks gracing their back.
They sleep in pools of sky and
clouds of sea;
engulfing me in a hurricane
I would give my breath to experience.
To die in the eye of your storm.
We won't feel a thing if we close our eyes
and dive right in.
The air blisters your lungs this far South...
Are you ready to begin?
You'll find me by the sand
in a white dress with empty hands--
cold, and waiting for you to
fill the spaces between my fingers.
So soak up your doubts;
and float with me...
