Upon the Earth there use to be,
A heart to love, an eye to see.
And lips to kiss the morning sun,
The moon at night, and a star, only one.
The heart was filled with love and grace,
The eye and the lips, without a face.
The lips could talk, and nastily speaks,
The eye could be evil, only seeing what it seeks.
But the heart can love and care for long,
For love is everlasting, it chooses not to speak or see wrong.
Below the Earth its stems grow stern,
As the sun of the Earth begins to burn.
But soon this life began to wilt,
And the balance of nature began to tilt.
The lips and the eye took over the heart,
And the life we have now began to start.
So that is why the heart is bloody red,
For evil speaks and sees love dead.

Thank you for entering my contest. Your poem does rhyme nicely but I was looking for more than two lines at a time in this particular contest.
Interesting thoughts on love and it's evils. Keep penning...alby
