I often ponder the fact I was nobody's first.
Instantly you think sex.
But that's last on my list of firsts.
I was not my parents first choice for a son,
I was not my children's first choice for a father,
I was not my peers first choice for a friend,
And definitely no ones first choice for love.
Settling is a man-maker
everyone just settled for what they got in me.
I am essentially an off-brand human
not what you really wanted, But good enough for the price.
When I'm gone my epitaph will read 'No one lived here'.
As hell stops calling and heaven just turns away
my frame crumbles and I come to grips with my lot in life.
I love what I have, long for what I don't
and settled for the fact I am nobody's first.
