Hello Is A Sad Word

Missing image
If only I could turn back time,
undo the choices I have made.
Remove the tear stains
from my pillow,
to never have your name
spoken from my lips.

Oh the pain that would not
have come into my life.
How I would not have fogotten
how to laugh and smile,
because your heart grew cold
and your words angry.

Yes, the willow would still weep,
but no longer weep for me,
Night stars would continue to fall.
but It would not be our star,
that tumbles to earth
and dies.

To go back and take away
that one moment in time.
Would take away all the pain
and agony within my heart.
Would be that moment we met,
when I first heard your
sweet hello.

  • If only.......!!!!

Ah yes! The cry of all our hearts, lamenting how "the former days were better than these" as the scripture states! I can relate to this to a point, except in MY case, the "regret" is in how I was the one that caused the hurt to her! And how I wish I could go back and change that! But alas! The "past is gone", as they say, although, it never really seems so be "dead", as memories linger on in our hearts and minds. And have you noticed, too often, it's the PAIFUL ones that seem to be the most outstanding? Even as you express here. Great write from a GREAT POET!

      Wonderful Comment!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful comment Stephen. Thank you so much. I do know how you can relate to this. It matters not who causes the pain. It hurts the same. And you are so right. It is the most painful and the most sad memories that linger much too long in the broken heart. Thank you for reading my sweet brother and friend.

      Blessings,
      Sandy

sounds bitter truth...love hurts when it's the wrong person to start with...there are soft spoken lovers who know how to string you along then dangle you with a noose around your neck...the true colors of someone you love appear and you become helpless in heart...but not forsaken...your knife is now sharp so you can cut that string of misery from your weary soul...good for you girl

  • Oh Sandy
how do you manage to put my life in to words so often. Yes turning back time to that first hello would erase lots of pain, but also lots of wonderful things so I really don't think I would want to go back. I was talking with a friend about that recently.

    Broken Heart

A heart so torn to become encrusted with mistrust and regret. To let the world change and grow without your tears to feed the flowers. The pain would never have been, yet, so many happy time between would be lost. Great poem very moving with clear strong images.

      Wonderful Coment!!

Hello, Thank you for this great comment and sharing your thoughts on my poetry. Always look forward to them. I too, try to think its better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all but somedays I begin to wonder if that is really true. Is it trully worth all the pain? You take care dear friend.

      Bless You,
      Sandy

    i really like this-->

in fact i think this is awesome in its own way. i know there are a lot of forlorn poems out there and most deal with love and loss of love and the illusion of love but this really is good! the fact that you blend in the shooting stars and the weeping willow for imagery is something i havent seen before. it ties up the title very well to the ultimate yearning for goodbye and the encompassing saddness related by wishing the connection had never happened...
thank you for sharing this! i like it!
    -peace to you-

      Lovely Comment

Hello, Thank you for stoping by and reading my poem. I so appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed reading it. You seem to understand the feelings behind my words. You take care. Sandy
  • Kind of reminds me of Cher's "If I could turn back time". This is a compliment. I think your last stanza is my favourite. It makes me feel that although there is great sadness in this song, there is a lingering joy from the memory of first greeting. Have you ever seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Kind of reminds me of that.
