One of the routes I use when running errands takes me up one side of a sizable hill and down its other. When I start out, it’s all about taking care of business and finishing it as soon as possible. And every time, without fail, no matter what the season, or time of day, or what’s on my mind or how pressing task at hand, when I reach the top of the hill, there is a moment when time comes to standstill. In that extended pause there is such a view of mountain ranges stretching from here to the sky. It’s always surprising and even though I know it’s there, it always creates a gasp. Each time, I’m amazed and wonder how I let it slip from my conscious thought. And then as I proceed down the hill, I feel that I’m rolling into some enchanted land.

I like this
This is an experience that we all could have, if we took a mindful moment at the top. The haiku is lovely, it expands my view. I'm new to haiku and haibun, trying to learn something. Thank you for this one.

I've been to that mountaintop many times and down the road that stretches out before us all. This is a delightful write worthy of something. Thanks for being a contestant and happy trails
