Monkey see/no Monkey do!

We chill from the plight
of our inherited apartheid,
knowing full well our fate

As you scurry with your
weapons of indifference
to keep us chained,
like monkey's in a cage

I am my brothers keeper
We will survive the storm

Truth and righteousness
mandates our much sought
after liberties

So we recline in contentment
with hearts cloned to relief,

until the other side of midnight
appears and we stand again
as full men in a world of beast

Author notes

This poem is a dedication to Africa and all

I liked the wordplay within the title and the title compounds the intent/content of the poem. NB scury /scurry. The last line " as full men in a world of beast" may possibly work instead for me personally as in a world full of beasts or full of bestiality or even in a beastly world, not a criticism per se but a perspective shared dear poet. I liked " until the other side of midnight" very much, it compounded the depth ,length and breadth of the darkness.

again, I think this is good

    "weapons of indifference"...neat; and

    "I am my brothers keeper
    We will survive the storm"

seems like a direct link to the image included in the contest: eye to eye, empathic. I'm impressed about how you've managed to open up such a strong connection with such a frugal phrase

in saying all this, I'm overlooking your presentation. It could be better, with spelling and punctuation

by better, I mean, people might pay better attention to your talents if they believe in your cleverness, and for that, most assume...by making things like spelling & punctuation a top priority

    Wow.

This was very deep baby. It is a struggle for mankind more now than ever before, you'd think by now FREEDOM will be open to everyone. This was very powerful as your thoughts have become a Reality in Life. Great job and always the best I am so proud & Blessed to have you as my friend, Forever

oh, I love Africa. I try to help in my ways.
Loved this poem but am confused what place these two lines have in the poem:"I am my brothers keeper
    We will survive the storm."
I love how they read, just don't understand their place.
