It was a typical boring night
Feeling miserable, quite uptight
All dressed up, with diamonds and pearls
Getting a little tipsy, out with the girls.
My eyes wandered across to the bar
The guy standing there looked just like a movie star
I felt my heart jump, as he looked my way
Our eyes locked together, I felt myself sway
The music was playing "I'll have the last waltz with you"
People were dancing, the lights were luminous blue
He walked towards me, and he held out his hand
He led me on the floor, as if everything was planned
Magical moments, dancing in time
The smell of his aftershave, a feelng sublime
In that moment in time I knew I'd found love
It was in a split second of knowing, like a hand in a glove
I spend many a night, dreaming of times in the past
Wondering why our love did not last
Unspoken words, hearts entwined
"I love you" was all in the mind.

I love that song, so romantic, and the poet did have that cataclysmic moment, eyes meeting across a crowded room and then holding his outstretched hand, and the time on the dance floor. Even if it didn't last, it was a romantic time. Tis better to have loved and lost, etc.
Good luck in the contest.
