moon dance

she tangos with the moon

stars beneath her feet

dust upon her hair

she stands beautiful

as the glow

she welcomes thoughts

of days gone by

and hopes for them

to come true

with a simple wish

she then kisses

the awaiting

moon

I haven't seen the picture for the contest... but I am picturing a girl who is happy beyond belief and who is dancing with the stars. This poem makes me smile.

    Write on, poet.

    Blessings,

    Beautiful writing!

I very much enjoyed reading this. Something about being out alone with the moon, it's like letting your guard down and being who you are. There are so many lies spoken to the sun throughout the day, and when the moon comes there is so much more openness. We dance, we cry, laugh, whatever is there from inside comes out.

Pretty poem. Really hopeful. It was kind of distracting that each line was so spread out, but maybe that's how you wanted it. Overall, very nicely done. Cheers and good luck in the contest!

this is delicate and yet aggressive in a kind of sensual, thoughtful way. see, if you've ever watched or done the tango, you know that a kiss will follow the dance as a last act of sex and not the first act of sex, for the dance of the tango is a consummation of desire, or in this case, of thoughts of romance, perhaps,... yet, in the poem is moment of stillness at lines 3 through 8, this moment, like real time, is one of absolute stillness, yet there is the spaceof lines 2 and three, with the rapture of the finished dance of the tango, and then at the final three lines, the kiss, and the awaiting moon, !!!, this is very subtle and slick. I read this poem as a gorgeous little metaphore of sensual and physical adoration spiced with romance of the heartfelt kind.

    very cool
