Corners

Born with an innate trait
absorbing the dark pavements,
      roads of ashy skins
      sunken in defeat.

Living wrapped in shame,
tattered,
      but restored whole,
      led to repeat.

...Death never shows
if there's love-bent joy
      leaping in corners
      waiting to greet.

The life of the down and trodden,
hope for the love that awaits around the corner.

    Stunning

    Wow lass,
this makes your comment on my work,
    valued a great deal.
Hope.....the last bastion of the lonely...
    but if kept alive,
it sometimes could bring love- bent joy
    from the corners,
to ward off evil....perhaps for a life time.
    Just excellent little gypsy,
one of the best i have read in a while.

    Bless ya lass,
    Liam

    YAY, gold!!
Is the focus of your poem someone black? Cause it said "ashy skins". Or maybe I just look to closely for that because I just finished reading Invisible Man *sigH* Such a depressing book><
I dont get how that image is the inspiration...I would think it would be for a love poem lolls. There like a girl wrapped in bed sheets with a heart
Watever the inspiration was, this poem is full of awesome. Loved how there was a rhyming pattern ^^

It's not really about a black person although you can really think of whatever you want. The picture I kind of thought of a naked girl so I thought of a prostitute or something and the heart was in the foreground so I thought of it as something she can look forward to.
      Something like that
      Thanks for the comment!
