each significant breath...
All adding up to this.
Those thoughts we never spoke aloud,
those hugs we never gave...
The feelings that we hid,
won't find you in your grave.
In each letter that we sent,
during each casual tea party...
We never foresaw this.
Those times we kinda ignored you,
those jokes you didn't get...
We took you for granted;
guilt won't let us forget...
Each word that passes our lips, now...
Each arm that wraps around us, now...
Perhaps we can cherish it,
perhaps we can remember it...
Like we never seemed to cherish you...
Like we will always, always remember you.
Author notes
I guess this is dedicated to my great uncle Colin.
He's just been diagnosed with cancer,
and it's spread to his liver.
Basically a death sentence.
It didn't really hit me until tonight...
and then I wrote this.
It's not very good,
but I guess it expresses how I'm feeling,
and that's kinda the point of poetry.

far reaching emotion...my favorite lines were:
"Perhaps we can cherish it,
perhaps we can remember it...
Like we never seemed to cherish you...
Like we will always, always remember you. "
Very understandable...and well done write.
