We had talked the talk
where honey is poured upon souls
so we could listen to the buzz.
Our consciousness occupied, we flowed
upon a river sharing a common course.
Under a tree, curled against a root,
we deepened our path -- fret by fret.
Aware of how we were strummed
producing a harmony, magical,
greater than our shadows, finer than gold.
Parked in this eddy where time stilled,
we touched our hearts to forever’s horizon.
Suddenly aware of the portents cast
we were hushed by the high arch of the branches
about us, the sanctuary we had found.
Age is measured by time; innocence
is measured in the purity of the moment.
Adrift on the floral scented breeze,
hand slipped into hand; before there was a need,
lips found lips and breathe the breeze together.
II. The Truth In A Kiss
From one graceful touch of lips --
unknown wings spread from the heart,
the twining ribbons about the Maypole understood,
why the helix is the simplest path
towards the gates of life and what is good --
all was known in awe and peace.
What could not find words to fit to rhyme
sunk into the soul with an understanding divine.
Most of all, what was clearly true, could not
be made more if angels with trumpets blew,
the lips just kissed belong to the One.
Poets, Dante, Colridge and others barely known
have written of the love that's true to the bone;
the love that everyone dreams to find, but most
settle for something less sublime in time.
The kiss: the Light, your gold sits before your eyes.
We sat motionless, hands still held, not wanting
to awake from this spell. Then, the breeze
through the trees did sigh and a sudden discomfort
about where we were made us realize
there was a shower on the way.
Laughing we ran back to the house
knowing we no longer had any doubts,
we had found our perfect mate. We were
blessed by God and Fate.
III. Epilogue
The wedding, the children and golden years
are all part of another tale, I fear.
Just, understand, it is not a foolish game.
Love lives and if you are strong and true
I know that the perfect one will find you too.

Amazing poem, your writing is really good. My favorite part of the poem is.
From one graceful touch of lips --
unknown wings spread from the heart

As you can tell, I am a romantic at heart. I have many poems that are woven around a kiss

beautiful, beautiful. thankyou for sharing this... your writing is so advanced. i'm glad you give me feedback and i'm honored for you to read my work
-
-
It is always a matter of practice and learning from others. Also becoming comfortable with and trusting your own voice. I took a long time to grow up so the last part took a little longer than usual. I share my thoughts, feedback, as a way to bring grace to the conversations we find ourselves in. Most of life is nothing more than a conversation or a story you create.

Ah, reminds me of that magical moment of one's first kiss, let alone one's first love.
Very well written indeed. Thanks for sharing this one with us. -

This is, but, a romantic dance. I like to turn my hand every so often to the task of trying to catch the way love moves through and about us.
Peace & Light,

And you did it quite well. Hope you have a good evening.

Long? but much worth the read. It is rich, starting right at the beginning of the poem... Souls being poured of honey... delicious metaphor my love. It is captivating that you managed to hold my breath for me.
and the truth of a kiss.... what but truth could be revealed if the kiss is of the poets pen? Truth is often sought after... it is upon your pages that I am fulfilled with that as well.
Love,
Mel

I just wanted to touch upon a revalitory kiss, an awakening. So much of us lies asleep afraid to rise above dreams. Those that do often suffer from the lack of tenderness in the world about us. Perhaps for a moment while the breath is held, a dream slips itself from the shore and spreads it wings making us feel more alive.

It's like reading someone's love life; overall it was ok, though I think you stretched some parts a bit too long. Wonderful read anyway.

I was surprised by it all. Sort of a romantic saga. Not my normal stuff. Thanks for the comments.

ok
This poem is ok: it works as a narrative of a relationship. Its intent is romantic and there is joy and love here, but it is also quite disjointed in its use of metaphors and its use of language. This is what we usually find in poems which are still early drafts. The writing seems impressive on first reading, but doesn't always hold together on subsequent readings.
I hope you don't mind my comments,

Myron, these are the kind of comments I look for on this site. Discerning critical comments. But, and this but is large -- I need to have them anchored in concrete examples. If I understood and already had dealt with the critical thought in my thinking and planning for the poem, it would all ready be taken care of. But, I haven't. Cause the complaint makes no sense to me. Not that you are wrong, but if you can explain further. I would appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Tom B.

It was very much so worth the read hon even long pieces of your work beholds the right attention at the best time this was soothing

No matter how wild the nights, hot the sex or how totally vexed we are by the opposite sex ... still, we want to find our perfect soul mate.
Sometime soon or maybe later than that, I will write how the match to the soul and the love that grows are God's gift to us. Still, making the relationship work and getting past our own silliness and petty behavior is still for us a lot of work. START PRACTICING NOW

This is beautiful. I love the breakdown of the poem with the seperate parts. As for my perfect one, I am still waiting, but hopeful.
-
-
Titling each chapter seemed fitting in this case. It heightened and focused the reading. The perfect one is never defined by us. We simply try to be the person we would love if we met us and accept the joys and lessons of the journey. Never quit and never give up and the reward will be great.

I believe this is the perfect pen to what we all lay in wait for. The one we seek to find forever more. Stupedous write pops.

Never settle. What is the point. A little bit of something without much of anything only reminds that you should of spent more time. Love yourself and delight in your ability to share them. Delight in others and celebrate their talents where you find them. Goodness given inspite of the occasional pests in the end reaps what is best.

To meet your soul mate is one thing but to actually have the realisation of all that it could be is truly a gift. Your piece sent a sigh through me. This is a beautiful romantic piece. I enjoyed how you took us through each phase of this wonderful romance. The last stanza gives hope that everyone will eventually find that special someone.

What are you willing to have in your life? What are you willing to be a stand for? Yes, yes, yes, love is waiting for you. Love stands ready to blossom in all of our lives. We just need to have integrity, openess, the willingness to receive with humility far more than pride would allow or belief deem possible. When it comes to the hard work of making a relationship work, love helps create the strength necessary to do the work ahead.

This is full of romanticism rather than philosophy of a kiss, I am impressed you have seen it from the point of view not unlike the fairytale beginnings when two people meet and finally give that first kiss, the magic then begins. It is in the finding of that person that lies the puzzle. This is soft and beautiful as I knew it would be. Love, C

I hate, no I am afraid of being heard negativitly, instead of constructively. We never date the person we want, we date the person we feel worthy of. These to become the same and our soul mate becomes our fate (besides we have more than one, but that is a long and involved discussion). We have to be willing to allow it to happen the way it looks, not the way we think it should look. This is a life of surrender and acceptance, not of negatives but of the full wonder of what is ours to hold.

You told me once you wrote romance novels. I thought this is one of the classic plots, the discovery of the perfect match at the moment of the kiss. ... or is that Sleeping Beauty?? Any way. I, who have known some incredible kisses but didn't realize how gifted I was, thought it would be great to write of one of these kisses. Took me forever to find and opening line, but here you are and there it is.

BREATH TAKING
to be held within the bonds of true love, to know the magic of ones soul mate, to stop the hands of time and simply to forget...and yet! there still is upon the lips that most wonderful, perfect, kiss...sighs...your MASTER PIECE is born!

Anne this one danced from my pen after days of trying and not finding where to begin. I could of stopped perhaps with part one but it was supposed to be about the kiss. This is one of those totally romantic flings that I just couldn't prevent myself from letting sing. I was suprised at how full sized it demanded to be. I really wasn't trying for an epic size piece

I trust to my muse and the spirit within. I am glad that it sang for you, my friend. I hate to think that I was a teller of tales and a singer of songs in some past life. I probably enchanted the throngs with stories of giants and mad kings with daughter's that made men made to behold. Beauty and power are a wonderous mix. This is a simpler tale one not on and epic stage, just, a simple tale of how love will find the right person without fail if you are willing to trust to love. \
Till the owl comes to rest upon your shoulder,
Tom B.

Oh my........

A contest holder's pride and joy before me,
like the magic of Disney's Tinkerbell,
I could see the fluttering flitter of
the kiss so vividly through your words....
I love this...Length did not matter because every line makes one sigh
Thank you!

I know you knew who this is. I give myself away stylistically and by the way I format my poems.
It is just that I knew what you were looking for and I could tell everyone stopped at the kiss, not what the kiss gave birth to. I meant it when I said I didn't intend it to be this long. The first part was written and I felt had to be included because it created a richer clarity for the kiss and the revelation that followed. The Epilogue only was done because It felt unfair to not create some sort of ending to the fairytale quality of the launch.
Thanks for the Gold. It appears that I have aquired a few in my several years on this site. Now you know I am not everyones cup of tea, but I am glad, sis, that you are one who enjoys drinking down my words.

Funny thing about soul mates...sometimes they tax you to the limit in pure vexation, but I think kindred souls, and there are many, are often like the joy in your poem, easy to become part of the romance, and part of our hearts instantly.
I've had to remind myself that anything worth having is worth the effort to better my being. And a soul mate works to that end, too, helps one to see the hidden values that don't always come easily, and we them.
I really love it when people are meant to be together in this life and find themselves happy beyond content.

Love opens its doors and allows us to see how good we can be. Then we have the hard work before us, the stretch and tug of shedding the skin we grew up in and taking on a better formed life. There are a fortunate few, and few they are, who are blessed from birth with a family that is healthy and clear and provides them with a crucible that prepares them well for a loving life. Such was not my fate, I am sad to say. I saw it as a dream and and mountain to be climbed. The behaviors that go with it I am still learning every day.

Awesome...
I love this piece, it literally shines with the stuff eternal love (for a soulmate) is made of. Great job, and best of luck to you! Peace, Cyn

'twas fun to write, it appeared and rolled out upon the page. I would of perhaps stopped after the first part but I had promised and the challenge was the aftermath of clarity following the kiss. It was fun in its own way, glad you enjoyed.
