I'm scared
can't move
numb with shock
what should I do first
perhaps I was wrong
but.......
what if I was right
what if what I felt was a lump
was it new or
had I just not found it
before
it could be.....
cancerous
or.....
just one of those
mysterious lumps that
come and go
that don't mean nothing
but.....
I found a lump
I'm scared
can't move
numb with shock....
can't move
numb with shock
what should I do first
perhaps I was wrong
but.......
what if I was right
what if what I felt was a lump
was it new or
had I just not found it
before
it could be.....
cancerous
or.....
just one of those
mysterious lumps that
come and go
that don't mean nothing
but.....
I found a lump
I'm scared
can't move
numb with shock....

I know just how you feel. I found a lump a couple of months ago, and people in my family have a history of dying young due to cancer, and yet, I have not gone to the doctor yet. I made a couple of appointments but chickened out. Now the lump seems to have receeded, but it is still there. Sigh... I hope that yours is not cancerous.

Yeah, I have a friend, or my mom that will go with me. Life just seems so busy though. It's easy to put things off. Thanks for the encouragement. I will give the doctor a call.

Merry meet Dana,
I am sorry about the cancer history in your family. I urge you to go to the Dr. and NOT chicken out. Do you have a friend who could go with you?
Fortunately, this poem is not about me or anyone in my family. It was written in response to the picture. Thank you for your concern though, let me know when you go to the Dr. Who knows, it could just be a fatty deposit. {(

This is great. I agree with what Beautiful-N-Broken said, this would be a good write to send to encourage all girls to be aware.
I think the line "what if I felt was a lump" needs rewording to either "what if what I felt was a lump" or something like "what if it was a lump I felt" because it doesn't make sense at the moment.
Great write.
Thanks for sharing.

Merry meet,
Thank you for your wonderful comments and for catching where I left out the word "what". Spell check doesn't catch the mistakes of brain working faster than the fingers type.

You made me feel exactly what this moment would bring

it could be.....
cancerous
or.....
just one of those
mysterious lumps that
come and go
that don't mean nothing
This should be sent to all the young women on the site. Puts a fear in you of breast cancer, and makes you want to keep check of yourself!

merry meet,
Thank you for your compliment and for your applause. My sister was in this position, thanks to the Goddess that it was just benign, but yeah, it was scarey.
Thanks again.
