Letters of a Pawn

Bright kings clad in silver
Raised up with a joyous bell
All stare in dumb wonder
As they damn them to the Hells
Plastic crowns and razors
Gleams at the scene of the task
A brutal eloquence
Oblivious to the crash

And as the tape rolls
I hope to see the rain

For ever star must fall
With such dark beauty
And fade away
(Burn away)
For every roll must end
The screen to stark grey
Send crowds aways
(Turn away)

Bow and weep in sorrow
Black garb and darker knell
With ash, the garden tended
Monoliths will never tell
Casket marked murderer
Nobody will advert their mind
Rags and gold juxtaposed
An ironic photo of the blind

And as the tape rolls
They will then feel the pain

For every star must fall
With such dark beauty
And fade away
(Burn away)
For every roll must end
The screen to stark grey
Send crowds away
(Turn away)

This is your end
Can you hear the thunder?
Tarnish and bend
Changing waves pull you under

Author notes

This is a poem that I wrote about my past and also about society in general. It speaks of those who gain power and persecute those that they deem as inferior to themselves, without truly realizing the full extent of the damage they are causing. Then, in the end, those people fade away and become insignificant, for fame and power is fickle. I think a lot on this subject, because I have a belief that you should treat everyone as you would want to be treated and because I was one of those that were persecuted. Anyways, I hope you like the poem.
