the cobble paths
bleed death –
Dachau
who entered
the walls, stripped –
humanity
murdered, political
opponents, others –
terrorized
mass execution
intensified, prototype –
subcamps
death by typhus
and echoing shots,
silence
liberation brings
freedom, US troops –
29 April 1945
the Memorial Site
once surrounded, denial –
the walls of death
Author notes
Dachau [1933 - 1945] is surrounded by a wall. None know the exact number of deaths that occurred within.

Congratulations on the gold. There's simply no denying the utter horror which occured there. Your words and the memories will live on to prove the triumph of the human spirit over the depravity of sick minds.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

I thank you for the gold.
Yes, Dachau left an impression on me. Those that refused to bow to the powers, priests, women, children, Polish, Russian, Italians, Jews and others walked within these walls. Humankind has not yet learnt to love. Frans -
This was chilling to the bone. There are some who still deny it ever happened. This was more than deserving of the GOLD. I pray we never forget what happened behind that wall.

so powerful and fitting
not much else to say

A nice historical piece indeed, war is never a pleasant event. My best wishes always.

-
My friend, I really like the way you gave this poem a step-like tempo - I can see soldiers marching outside the walls while the death and evil go on inside - but it feels as if the soldiers will never stop marching and the evil will keep on happening until death is put to death
very well put

I have a feeling you were profoundly moved by this as I was when visiting Auschwitz. There is nothing that can erase the denial of some who refuse that extermination took place, but after having picked up soil from outside the camp and bening told it was 6feet of human loam, there is undeniable proof. And on it the forest blooms so beautifully, caring for the souls of those beneath.
You have made me cry here. Love, C
