This darkness you see

What you see is not
Always what you get

In this chair
One person may sit

But if you gave time
To look deep inside

You would see this soft not
So dark person that hides

My mask you see is one
I show to protect all thats left in me

Shattering my heart and bruising my soul
Is what they set out to achieve

I found some light in my darkness
And he's piecing my heart back together

Mending my soul to heal
And helping me come out of this storm better

I see the light as well

I have found this piece so true and how we often put on a different dress for people than the person residing within . We are all guilty there .Yet often the hard surface is not so hard if one finds someone to talk to and be with that are loving and kind to the core .I see your light honey and always have .Love Patty

Nice write. I think many can relate to hiding behind a person we create (and other's know us as) to protect the real "us" that's inside. Congrats on the honorable mention.

OH I like your take on this! That her darkness and her demeanor is just a front for a soft spirit inside! A lovely piece that offers hope!! Thank you!
