Early morning,
Seven am
Out of bed,
And struggle awake.
Fight off dogs,
As I try to dress.
Want to cry
Can't stand this time.
Tugged along, by insistent hounds
Who want to wee, and want it now.
Past the birds who sing out loud,
Into the kitchen where I'm met by a crowd.
Kittens climbing up my legs,
As I realise the hounds,
To work up hell.
Quickly nip to the loo,
Alfie in a flap for his food.
morning fly's by in a whirl,
As I feed my zoo,
And fight with my son.
He does not want his fruit, and bread
He does not want no toast instead
He doesn't want a bubble bath
And won't give me a morning hug.
Having little tantrums,
Over every little thing,
While mummy longs for lunch time,
And the joy that it will bring.
As the clock creeps closer
To the midday mark,
I sit and stare,
And gnaw my lip,
Ready for the off.
Then when it's strikes,
I'm up and off,
Working like a mad man
Animals fly everywhere,
As I try to clear the living room.
Mummy's time has come at last
A chance to have a break
No more tantrums for a while,
No more pesky pets.
Out they go, all of them
The toddler goes to bed,
And I drop down in a chair
To have a relaxing treat.
This time alone is just for me,
And I won't give it up.
So if the clock says 12 o'clock
Don't knock,
Or call me up.
