He lashes her with his tongue
And licks her with his eyes
And I
Watch,
In awe as she moves
with all her lady-like charms
that dazzle
and falls
from her hair
with laundry on the line,
she casually cooks
with dashes of love
that often pinch my own heart
and I wonder how
she endures all his lows
and absorbs his selfish
narcissistic behaviors
I wait for welled up pain
to seep from her flesh
as she embraces another
verbal beating
with a pearl-like smile

about verbal abuse...most people don't even know they are victims or maybe they just deny it.

good job with this one, working with this topic.

Aw this hit me like a rock. Its so true about the verbal abuse as the same thing with mental abuse, most people deny it or just dont realize it until its to late.
It hit me at the end because you say verbal beating with a pearl-like smile. Good job with this one.

I like the subtleness of this...an absolute feel though
excellent -
aww, Catie...this is excellent...very sad & you have written this very well... I love the 'pearl like smile', because of the symbolism of the pearl & how it is a protection from the grain of sand in a shell....
..best of luck in the contest...
