The nurse came in and said it was true.
I was sixteen then and pregnant with you.
Fear I'd never known gripped my heart.
I tried to hide you and fell apart.
Didn't know what to do.
I loved you...even then I knew.
The day you came was filled with cheer....
And perhaps a little bit of fear.
Knew I was going to the best mom I could.
Vowed that your life would always be good.
The little coos and joyful laughter.
Blessed my life every day after.
I watched you grow to a girl of four.
That little laugh I still adore.
You a big sister now and I know that I did things right.
You love your brother and hold him tight.
I asked you once where you learned to take such good care.
You gave me your thats a silly question stare.
Then you said in your voice so petie.
Mommy YOU taught me how to be this sweet.

Sweet as sugar
This was especially enjoyable to read. A lot of love & pride in this one. Someone very close to me was a teen parent & it was the greatest thing that ever happened to her. She would do anything for her kids. Kudos & many thanks to you for entering this, fellow poet.

This is beautiful. It's amazing what you teach your kids without even knowing it. My daddy teaches me strength without even physically telling me anything. This is such a warming piece. I've seen tons of friends have kids so young and I can't begint to imagine it. Beautiful work. You obvioualy put your heart in to this piece.

Warmest,
Mylee
