Let me tell you what it feels like
When the person you love most in the world
Tells you they don't feel the same.
At first, it feels like Hell.
The pain is so raw it's as if someone
Had peeled off your skin and poured something
Acidic and burning beneath it.
And you're shocked to find out that anything
Could ever hurt so much.
It feels like complete uncertainty.
Like animals just at your heels,
Waiting to strike at the first sign of fear,
As you stumble and cry and try to remember
What life was like before.
And then, eventually, it feels like nothing.
You feel the hole in your chest;
The space where their love for you used to be,
And the abundance of pain where yours still is.
But just when you think you can't cry anymore
You prove yourself wrong.

This is amazing. I love it. I remember feeling some of this with the first person I ever loved, and some with the person I still love now. One of them never loved me back, and the other used to but doesn't anymore. Thanks for entering my contest.

this is scary beyond many levels! the imagery here was very vivid and raw... and your emotions ran deep and this was just too painful to read!
