Break

As you hit me again
I sway dangerously, close to falling
But I don't break, oh no
I won't give you the satisfaction

That smirk that's always plastered on your face
Falters as you glare at me with angry eyes
Your little brain is whirling, I know
Why won't I break?

Looking up at you, I can see
That hurt, hidden deep
You can't accept it
So you blame it all on me

The anger returns
I'm stricken to the ground
But unlike all the other times
You go farther than before

As you beat me when I'm already down
You scream that I'm the reason
I'm the reason for all your pain
But I don't break

A crack resounds in the air
Splitting pain sears my chest
Tears run down my face
But you don't stop

Something is wrong
Your not relenting
You don't go back to your room
You just keep going

The pain is numbing
The beatings are fading
All I can hear is
Thump, thump, thump

Finally, you stop
But it's too late, I'm already gone
You realize what you've done
It was never supposed to go this far
Even so, I still haven't broken

Running back to your room
Your at a loss
Seeing my beaten body on your floor
I'm just another victim

You remember,
I always laughed the loudest
Who would've known?

Author notes

This is based on things that happen daily, abuse. I wanted to go into the view of one whose being abused, but the pride stops him/her from giving in, as a result, s/he dies. It's a sad world we live in, but something that, unfortunately, won't stop for a long time.

    This is so sad,

and unfortunately it happens all the time. This had great imagery and depth of emotions, thanks for entering, and good luck.
