Another Day

Missing image
The grass grows high, I can not see,
what dangers lurk ahead of me.
There is a sound of strangers near,
could it be friend or foe I hear.

Upright creatures are on the prowl,
sound of alarm in hyena's howl.
Walking the plains in search of me,
must stay hidden, quiet as can be.

Crouch down as scent permeates,
with careful strides and slower gait.
Jungle creatures are running past,
dust on the horizon moving in fast.

Wildebeests, gazelles in stampede,
pull back to safety and recede.
Only the fittest and keenest survive,
another day ends, I am still alive.

Rhyme and flow move quietly and slowly for the reader to watch for movement in the high grass. The game animals move quickly to stay alive. This is true and consistent with nature. Little tingles leave insight into the heart and mood of the work. This is an excellent entry for the contest.
